Rapper Fat Joe launched a relief fund to help Haiti

American rapper Fat Joe has launched a relief fund, as part of a partnership with the international charity Food for the poor, to help Haiti, ravaged by a multidimensional crisis, including rising insecurity . The rapper made the announcement on Thursday May 2, 2024.

In an interview with the American magazine Billboard, the singer of the hit song “Lean Back” declared: “My heart goes out to all the Haitians who are suffering because of this humanitarian crisis. Many of my close friends are Haitian, so we have watched this tragedy unfold and explored the most effective and efficient ways to provide meaningful support.”

The Bronx, New York native later told the US media outlet that all relief items and financial contributions will go directly to Food for the Poor so they can safely distribute donations directly to families in the need.

Fat Joe & Friends Relief for Haiti will send items such as new and unused portable mattresses, pillows, blankets, diapers, underwear, soap/body wash, shampoo, hair brushes, etc. to Haiti. teeth, toothpaste, deodorant, combs/brushes, solar-powered lanterns, fuel, efficient ovens, mosquito nets, reusable water tanks and more, Billboard reported.

The humanitarian aid of rapper Fat Joe and his friends through Food for the Poor comes in a context of critical humanitarian crisis in Haiti, due to the violence of armed gangs. The World Food Program (WFP) recently called for the opening of a humanitarian bridge to allow the delivery of food aid to homes in need. The UN launched a bridge with the Dominican Republic to alleviate this problem, so the European Union delegation in Haiti opened one with Panama to deliver its essential aid to those in need in the country.
