Three months of preventive prison were imposed on the Dominican soldier accused of raping the 14-year-old Haitian minor during an operation to control undocumented immigrants by Dominican immigration on Friday, April 5, in Ensanche Bulevar, former sector of Kosovo , in Punta Cana, in the province of La Altagracia. This decision was pronounced by the Permanent Attention Court of the Judicial District of La Altagracia on Friday April 26, 2024.
This decision imposed by the judge in charge of the case, Francis Diloné, established that the 18-year-old Dominican Air Force soldier must serve his sentence at the Anamuya Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR14 ).
“What we want is for justice to be done,” declared the human rights activist who accompanies the victim and her parents in the legal proceedings aimed at bringing justice to the Haitian minor. He said he wanted to guarantee that during the three months of preventive detention of the accused, the other people involved in the case will appear before the courts.
“What we want is for this type of abuse against citizens here in the Dominican Republic to stop, especially in the East,” he said.
Lawyers representing the teenager said they hope that after the three months of pre-trial detention, the accused will be ready for the preliminary hearing, because, they argue, there is enough evidence that “makes a conviction impossible.” », reported the Dominican media Diario Libre.
Note that the teenager had clearly identified her alleged rapist, soldier Paulino De la Cruz, according to the court report.
Recall that the complaint report filed by the victim’s mother indicated that the events occurred at the minor’s home, where she was alone “because her parents had gone to work”.
“The event occurred on April 5, 2024, around 5:00 a.m., while his daughter MA, 14 years old, was at her residence near La Gallera in Verón, when an unknown person, but dressed as a guard and with a hood, entered her house and once there, grabbing the minor by the neck, asked her for a kiss, she told him that she was a minor, and he replied that if she went crazy.
