In the shadow of the national tragedy of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in 2021, a glimmer of hope has emerged in Haitian football. Monique André, nicknamed “Marenn”, by close friends, took the reins of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) under the aegis of FIFA. His journey seems to redraw another face in the Haitian football landscape in these tumultuous times.

During her appearance on the show “Carton rouge”, broadcast on Radio Total Mix, Monique André revealed her plan to revitalize Haitian football. Faced with unprecedented challenges and a complex heritage, she announces that she will orchestrate a rigorous administrative overhaul, maintain the competitive spirit of the national teams, and initiate strategic approaches for the men’s and women’s selections. With the Forward project and innovative initiatives for the future, Ms. André profiles herself as the architect of a new and promising era for football in Haiti.

Monique André, in conversation with former Haitian international Ernso Laurence and journalists, Wiljode Louis and Leconte Dor discussed the challenges encountered when she took charge of the Haitian football federation in July 2021. This period, darkened by the The tragic assassination of President Jovenel Moïse represents a dark chapter in the history of the country. This national ordeal created a complex and painful context for his mandate, straining his ability to lead in a situation that was both fragile and emotionally charged.

Football promoter Monique André has clarified ongoing efforts for the men’s team, announcing the imminent appointment of a new coach for 2026, and confirmed that all key players in the women’s team, including Shwendesky Joseph, have their visas for the Women’s Gold Cup. She stressed the importance of long-term preparations for the selections, in accordance with FIFA guidelines.

She also addressed the financial management of the federation within the framework of the Forward project, insisting on rigor and transparency, particularly in the use of funds for the World Cup with the approval of FIFA.

For the future, Madame André spoke of the development of a school football program in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Nesmy Manigat as well as training sessions for coaches, aligned with CONCACAF standards. She expressed her satisfaction with the success of the Symposium and announced other initiatives to strengthen Haitian football.
