Barbadian all-rounder Roston Chase has expressed admiration for captain Rovman Powell’s leadership, highlighting its positive impact on the West Indies Twenty20 unit as they gear up for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean and North America.

Following West Indies’ impressive 37-run victory over Australia in Perth, Chase spoke highly of Powell’s role in fostering a renewed sense of unity and self-belief within the team. Powell’s leadership tenure began a year ago when he succeeded Nicholas Pooran, who stepped down after West Indies’ failure to qualify for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

“Since he took up the role, it has been a different vibe. HE has been leading us very well, and I want to say a ‘big-up’ to Rovman Powell,” Chase told reporters in Perth.

Three consecutive series victories in 2023
