In a press release dated Friday, July 19, 2024, the National Identification Office (ONI) announced the launch of a caravan to distribute National Identification Cards in several areas of the metropolitan region. Tabarre, Port-au-Prince, Croix-des-Bouquets, Pétion-ville and Delmas are the municipalities targeted as part of this caravan.
To make the operation efficient, the ONI mentions that: the cards initially available in the offices on rue Lamarre and Gymnasium Vincent will now be accessible at their office located at Canapé-vert. The cards previously distributed in Tabarre, Corail Cesselesse and Croix-des-Bouquets will be available at SONAPI. The cards from the Silo office will now be distributed at the former Delmas 31 town hall premises. The cards previously distributed at the Pétion-ville high school office will be delivered to the OAVCT in Pétion-ville.
In addition, the National Identification Office (ONI) insists on the free nature of the card, thus recalling that no one should pay to obtain their CIN. This initiative aims to regularize the operations of the ONI and dispel any corrupt practices denounced by citizens, according to the press release.
Finally, inviting the public to remain attentive to the next announcements concerning the passage of the caravan in the other departments of the country, the ONI plans to use other communication channels to inform the population.
