Haitian society should demand justice and transparency in the transition process in the face of the actions of advisers accused of corruption in the BNC affair
In a context where the fight against corruption and impunity constitute an absolute priority for Haitian society, the stakeholders in the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) condemn the actions of the advisers accused of corruption in the case of the National Credit Bank (BNC). This affair, which has tarnished the image of the CPT, requires rapid and transparent clarification in order to restore the confidence of the Haitian people in the transition process.
The Montana Agreement Monitoring Office urges political actors to put aside their differences and join forces to counter the drift of the Presidential Council and the Government. According to them, society must exert peaceful pressure to demand the publication, implementation and compliance with the April 3 Agreement, which guarantees the rule of law.
Stakeholders in the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) insist on the need for in-depth administrative and judicial investigations to identify and judge those responsible, whether within the CPT, the government or the public administration in general.
The Collective of Political Parties of January 30 joins this demand for justice and strongly condemns the actions of “President-Advisors” as well as the unprotocol excesses of the Prime Minister and his political allies. The Collective shares the indignation, anger and resentment of honest citizens and the protesting people in the face of this irresponsible behavior of certain state dignitaries. The latter seem more concerned with their personal interests and undue privileges than with satisfying the general interest and the expectations of the population in terms of security and justice.
Mr. André Michel expressed his deep concern about the accusations of corruption targeting certain members of the CPT. He stressed the extreme seriousness of these accusations, which have already tarnished the image of the entire Presidential Transitional Council. He called for a rapid clarification of this case, involving not only the CPT, but also all stakeholders and CARICOM. For Mr. André Michel, the credibility of the transition process is at stake, the success of which is essential for the stability and development of the country.
In principle, there should be a withdrawal of all authorities involved in this case so as not to hinder the work of the judiciary in the fight against corruption and impunity.
