In a press release published on Saturday, July 6, 2024, the political structure Fanmi Lavalas called on the Presidential Transitional Council and the Haitian government to reveal the process of appointing civil servants in the public administration. “State positions are not for sale,” writes the party, which praises its minister in the government.
In its press release, Fanmi Lavalas especially urged the Presidential Transitional Council and the government to make the fight against corruption a priority, “the first condition for a successful transition.”
Fanmi Lavalas believes that the time has come for the corrupt to stop piling incompetence upon incompetence in the public administration. “State positions are not for sale. Haiti needs competent and honest civil servants, because the role of the State is to provide good services to all,” believes Fanmi Lavalas, congratulating its minister who, according to it, “is starting to remove the garbage before our eyes with the few material resources remaining in the Ministry.”
Fanmi Lavalas, which recalls that Engineer Raphaël Hosty is the only person recommended by Fanmi Lavalas within the government so far, proposes that the authorities inform the population about the process of appointing civil servants to fight against corruption. “The more transparency there is, the less corruption there is,” believes the party of former president Jean Bertrand Aristide.
Fanmi Lavalas is represented in the Presidential Transitional Council by Leslie Voltaire. The structure is represented in the government by Raphaël Hosty, Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications.
This note comes at a time when Garry Conille has decided to issue a circular to better structure his government and give directives to the authorising officers. The appointment process is becoming increasingly complicated.
