Stéphane Désir, eldest son of journalist Louko Désir, was identified as the third survivor of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland to end his life, six years after the deadly shooting, this Friday, June 14, 2024.
Stéphane Désir, who was only 14 years old at the time of the tragedy in 2018, was one of the hundreds of students present when the shooter killed at least 17 people.
The suicide of Stéphane Désir comes after those of two other survivors of the Parkland shooting. Sydney Aiello, 19, committed suicide in 2019. Calvin Desir, 16, committed suicide on March 17 of that year.
It should be noted that Stéphane Désir committed suicide this Friday, at a time when the 1,200 square meter building at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, where the shooting took place, was being demolished, according to CNN .
Remember that Nikolas Cruz, perpetrator of the Parkland high school shooting in Florida, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on November 2, 2022.
