Powerful detonations rang out this Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the lower region of Delmas and its surroundings, accompanied by automatic weapons fire.
Residents of Delmas 24 reported to Juno7 having heard these noises since this morning, pushing them to seek refuge for their safety. Until now, no information has been given on the origin of this tense situation.
However, Juno7 editorial staff confirmed the presence of an armored police vehicle on the scene, repelling armed individuals trying to invade certain neighborhoods near lower Delmas and Solino. The Delmas area is known to be under the control of the men of Jimmy Cherizier, alias Barbecue, a gang leader wanted by the authorities.
This situation of violence and insecurity is unfortunately not new for the lower part of Delmas, which for months has become a territory where the law no longer seems to apply due to the presence and activity of armed gangs. Even places previously considered relatively safe, such as the airport intersection, have now become impassable due to escalating violence.
