Tennis: Dominique Coicou wins the first edition of the Access Haiti Open by defeating Fabien Mevs 6-1, 6-3 in the final.

The first edition of the Access Haiti Open, organized by the Access Haiti company, ended on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Bellevue Circle. During the grand final, Dominique Coicou, originally from Petit-Goâve, won against Fabien Mevs 6-1, 6-3. This tennis tournament aims to promote this sporting discipline in order to place it at the forefront in Haiti.

In the presence of a select audience hosted by a rare band, Dominique Coicou won this local tournament organized by the company Access Haiti in which more than 87 tennis players participated. The champion of the first edition after winning the cup expressed his satisfaction. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Access Haiti and also congratulate them for this tournament. I can say that it is one of the great tournaments that the country has organized since I have been playing tennis. It is a great pride for me to win the competition,” he said.
He also sent a message to other young people to suggest that they train, pay attention to their coaches, and continue working to achieve the goal they have set.

Furthermore, the CEO of Access Haiti, Allen Bayard, thanked all those who contributed to the realization of this first edition of Access Haiti Open.
During his speech for the occasion, the head of Access Haiti took the opportunity to praise Dominique Coicou, the winner of the first edition of the tennis tournament. “Dominique’s journey which began in the town of Petit-Goâve is a story of dedication and resilience. His path to this fight was lit by significant matches including a memorable semi-final against Jean-Luc Vorbe.”

Allen Bayard also focused on Fabien Mevs who greatly participated in the creation of the first edition of the tennis tournament Access Haiti Open. “He is a visionary who worked tirelessly to make this event happen. Embodying the passion and dedication we celebrate today.”

Remember that the competition began on January 21. The idea of ​​this tournament is to put Haitian tennis back at the forefront. “There is a lot of talent but when they reach the age of 15 they are neglected due to lack of supervision, lack of local and international championship. We want to change this situation. We are fighting to put Haitian tennis back at the forefront,” Allen Bayard told Juno7 in an interview.
