The airline American Airlines resumed its flights to Haiti this Thursday, May 30, after an interruption of almost two months due to a gang attack at Toussaint Louverture airport. This resumption is welcomed with enthusiasm by the United States Embassy, which sees this decision as a positive sign for the stability and security of the region.
The embassy expresses its gratitude to all the institutions which contributed to securing the airport, in particular the Police and the National Airport Authority. She hopes other U.S. airlines will soon follow suit, strengthening Haiti’s international connectivity.
As a reminder, flights to Port-au-Prince were suspended on March 4, 2024, following an armed attack against Toussaint Louverture airport. This attack led to increased security measures and the temporary suspension of flights by several airlines.
