The ai government commissioner of Cap-Haïtien, Charles Edouard Durand, was allegedly attacked by police officers in the middle of the street on the night of Tuesday, February 13, 2024. In a note of solidarity, the government commissioners of Fort-Liberté, Me. Eno Zephirin ; of the Grande Rivière du Nord, Me. Dominique Bathelemy and that of the Court of Appeal of Cap-Haïtien, Me. Phel Ygues Casimir point the finger at police officers from theDepartmental law enforcement unit (UDMO-Nord).
In their note of solidarity made public on Wednesday February 14, 2024, the heads of public prosecutor’s offices denounce and vehemently condemn the acts of brutality and mistreatment perpetrated against the commissioner of the ai government of Cap-Haïtien, Me. Charles Edouard Durand, without report the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to our sources, the incident broke out following an order from the police asking the government commissioner to move his vehicle, deemed improperly parked. The commissioner allegedly refused to cooperate, leading to a rapid deterioration of the situation.
As a sign of protest, the protesting CGs say they are granting 24 hours to the northern departmental director of the PNH, Fred Joseph, so that he can place at the disposal of justice the agents who allegedly physically attacked the acting head of the public prosecutor’s office. the second city of the country, Charles Edouard Durand.
