The Presidential Transitional Council convened a meeting this Wednesday, May 22, 2024, bringing together various Haitian security experts to discuss the establishment of a National Security Council (CNS), Loop Haiti has learned.
This meeting, as part of the preparations for the CNS, according to available information, was an opportunity to analyze in depth the current security situation in the country. It is envisaged that in the coming days, local specialist security experts will be appointed to contribute to this body. Their main mission will be to develop and supervise international security assistance mechanisms, with the aim of ensuring the stability and security of the country.
The National Security Council (CNS) under the agreement of April 3, 2024 and according to articles 25, 26 and 27 will be responsible for defining and supervising the arrangements relating to security assistance, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2699.
Furthermore, a council of ministers is scheduled for this Thursday, May 23, 2024. According to certain information, this council of ministers will be an opportunity to discuss the decree governing the functioning of the Presidential Council, the political agreement, as well as other points of national importance. Once these discussions are completed, the documents could be sent to the National Press for official publication.
