A group of Kenyan police officers arrived this Monday from the United States.
Described as a reconnaissance element, this precursor group of around fifty men, led by the mission commanders, are within our walls, as part of preparations for the deployment of a larger contingent of 200 police officers.
During an intervention this Monday, the General of the Southern Command of the American Army, Laura Richardson, confirmed the deployment of Kenyan police officers to Haiti on May 23. She highlighted the progress made in securing the Toussaint Louverture international airport and announced that the course will then be set on the main port of Port-au-Prince.
In the meantime the Kenyan President William Ruto is currently in the United States. Il is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden regarding the deployment of the multinational security mission to Haiti.
