The director of the FNE justifies his salary of 650,000 gourdes and rejects accusations of corruption.

The general director of the National Education Fund, Jean Ronald Joseph, in a message published on his Facebook page, reacted to allegations made against him and executives of the National Education Fund (FNE) on social networks and through the capital’s media by Me Caleb Jean-Baptiste even if he did not name him.

He confirms his gross monthly salary of 650,000 gourdes, and like all directors general and senior executives of the public service, he receives a function allowance equivalent to a third of the salary. “No special privileges are granted out of favoritism, this matter being governed by the Civil Service Act,” he added.

Jean Ronald Joseph specifies that no salary increase has been made either for consultants or for executives of the institution since the first two years of his mandate (2022-2024) but did not deny the salaries of 350,000 gourdes from members of his cabinet. A +40% adjustment was made only for support staff to reduce the salary gap.

Regarding accusations of corruption, the general director deplores the fact that technical executives and even service providers are wrongly indexed in the media. “Also, I must clarify that all service provision contracts, including those of consultants, receive the opinion of the Superior Court of Accounts and Administrative Disputes,” he said.

Furthermore, he indicated that a technical commission is working on a dematerialized procedure to facilitate the request for subsidies for studies or educational projects, online. This should allow any person or institution to submit a request from the website of the FNE.
