Port-au-Prince woke up on April 8, 2024, under great tension. Detonations were heard in various corners of the capital including the Champs de Mars, Carrefour airport and Delmas. Armed civilians also took advantage of the weekend to vandalize and loot the JB Damien professional center and demolish the Bon Repos sub-police station.

The residents surrounding the air of the Champs de Mars and the National Palace, those of Delmas and the Carrefour area of ​​the airport experienced a hard day, this April 8, 2024, because of the abuses of the criminal gangs who took over hostage the Haitian capital. Very early in the morning until the middle of the day, the bandits set off gunpowder in these areas and other surrounding neighborhoods. Automatic weapons fire panicked people who deserted the main roads. In dire straits, the population continues to say their prayers with fear in their stomachs.

The JB Damien Center vandalized

In this same wave of continuous violence, armed individuals made a show of force in the premises of one of the oldest professional centers in the country. The JB Damien building was, on the night of April 6, looted and vandalized by outlaws. This school only lengthens the sad list of training centers destroyed or partially destroyed by gangs. A situation which greatly displeases the managers of this institution which will have in a year and a few months a century of serving the population.

The Bon Repos sub-police station in ruins

During this same weekend, precisely on the night of April 7, 2024, the Canaan gang led by the name “Jeff Gwo loa”, demolished the Bon Repos sub-police station. This building had been abandoned since February 29 when this aforementioned gang attacked it and massacred the six police officers who were there. This latest attack would be the expression of frustration of the gang which would have lost some members mortally wounded by law enforcement agents.
