Placement of the Government Commissioner of Les Cayes, Me Ronald Richemond, by the Minister of Justice.
In order to shed light on the truth surrounding the facts alleged against the Government Commissioner at the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of Les Cayes, Mr. Ronald Richemond, the Minister of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), Me Carlos Hercules through a letter dated June 27, 2024 informs him that he has been placed on leave.
In this letter, it is emphasized that the MJSP received various complaints against Me Ronald Richemond in the exercise of his functions as Government Commissioner of Les Cayes.
It must be said that through a letter dated June 26, 2024 addressed to Prime Minister Garry Conille, the steering committee of SOS Journalistes informed that Commissioner Richemond arbitrarily released, on December 10, 2023, the named Wilkens Thirogène alias Pouchon, detained for several months for his alleged involvement in the cowardly assassination of the journalist and political commentator Garry Tesse, who hosted a show on Lebon FM, in the city of Les Cayes.
SOS Journalistes underlines in its letter signed by its secretary general, Joseph Guyler C. Delva that on October 30, 2023, the investigating judge then in charge of the case, Me Robert Jourdain, issued an order in which a request for lifting of the mandate of The arrest was made solely in favor of the journalist Guerlan Hyppolite, then wrongly imprisoned on the orders of Commissioner Richemond. Guerlan Hyppolite was released that day, despite certain formal defects.
“To everyone’s surprise, Commissioner Richemond decided, on his own initiative and without the knowledge of the investigating judge, to release a man named Wilkens Thirogène (alias Pouchon), one of his protégés, whose name is strongly cited as the alleged perpetrator or accomplice in the assassination of journalist Garry Tesse, whose body was found on October 24, 2022 – in the town of Foko, near the city of Les Cayes – a few days after his mysterious disappearance on October 18 of the same year,” castigates this association of journalists in its letter.
