In a press release published this Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Ministry of Communication informed of the holding of a meeting between the members of the Presidential Transitional Council with a view to ruling on the process leading to the election of its president . The presidential council ensures transparency of the process.
The president of the presiding council will be known in a few days. At least that is what the Presidential Transitional Council said. During a meeting this Saturday, the nine Presidential Councilors agreed to set up an electoral office composed of three members including two non-voting members of the CPT and a third, drawn by lot, on election day, from among the members of the voting sectors not having a candidate.
According to the document adopted by the Presidential Advisors, the presidency of the electoral office will be ensured by one of the non-voting members of the CPT chosen by consensus on election day.
The ballot for the designation of the president of the CPT, according to the press release, will take place “in complete transparency on Tuesday April 30, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Villa d’Accueil in the presence of the press and representatives of the signatory sectors of the political agreement establishing the CPT”.
“If a candidate obtains an absolute majority of the vote (4/7), he is declared the winner. In the event of a second round, the vote must be cast for one or the other candidate, in accordance with article 7 of the draft decree. Where applicable, the same voting procedure applies. », Reports the press release which cites a document called: “Mechanism applicable to the election of the President of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT)”.
Several advisors are expected to become president. Four advisors (Louis Gérald Gilles, Fritz Jean, Lesly Voltaire, Edgard Leblanc)
are running for the presidency of the CPT, including two candidates in pole position.
