The Presidential Transitional Council (PTC) has expressed its solidarity with the Caribbean countries ravaged by Hurricane Beryl, which caused the death of at least ten people, injured many others and caused massive destruction.
In a statement dated July 5, 2024, the CPT expressed its deep sadness at the devastation inflicted by this category 5 hurricane, the most powerful ever to form in June in the Atlantic Ocean, with winds exceeding 252 km/h.
The CPT presented its condolences to the families of the victims and to the heads of state of the affected countries, including Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Barbados and Jamaica.
The governing body particularly extended its words of sympathy to the Prime Minister of Grenada, whose country was due to host the 47th CARICOM Heads of State Meeting, which was cancelled due to the extensive damage.
