The road to the 2026 Under-20 Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Poland, has officially begun with the publication of the groups for the first phase of the CONCACAF qualifiers. The Haitian national women’s under-20 team, already qualified in 2018 for this international competition, finds itself in a relatively favorable group, made up of Guyana, Belize and Antigua and Barbuda.

This draw offers Haiti a solid opportunity to secure new qualification for the prestigious global competition. Indeed, after a historic campaign in 2018 where the Grenadières achieved the feat of qualifying for the U-20 World Cup in France, the objective is clear: repeat this feat and confirm Haiti’s place among the best nations of world women’s football.

The opponents of this group, although competitive, seem accessible for young Haitian women. Guyana, Belize and Antigua and Barbuda do not have the same tradition of women’s football as other nations in the region such as the United States or Mexico. However, each match will be an opportunity for the girls to demonstrate their talent and potential, and prepare themselves for the greater challenges ahead in this elimination phase.

The competition promises to be difficult, however, because it will not be enough just to win against these opponents to qualify. The Haitian team will also have to face a series of other CONCACAF nations, including the United States, Mexico and Canada, who remain formidable opponents. But, with its experience acquired during previous editions, the Haitian selection, led by its technical staff, knows itself capable of competing with the best teams in the area.

The CONCACAF qualifiers will be played in a group format, followed by a final round to determine the teams qualified for the World Cup. With a good start in this first phase, Haiti could not only reach this milestone but also prepare for direct elimination matches which promise to be more intense.

The young Grenadières know that a new qualification would be a further step in the development of women’s football in Haiti, a rapidly emerging sport in the country. This generation, driven by the success of its elders, dreams of writing a new page in the history of Haitian women’s football on the world stage.

The battle for qualification promises to be thrilling, and Haiti will approach these qualifiers with the ambition and determination to seek a place in Poland in 2026.
