The Haiti INVEST platform of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the USAID/Haiti Reach project, and the Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Haiti), kicked off of the Connect, Partner and Invest for Economic Recovery and Development Conference in Miami, Florida, yesterday Thursday, February 29, 2024, reports the American Embassy in Haiti in a press release yesterday.
According to the Embassy, the three-day event organized by the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP), will highlight investment opportunities in high-growth Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). which operate in key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, and financial inclusion.
The Director of the USAID Mission in Haiti maintains that private sector engagement continues to generate promising opportunities to rebuild and strengthen the Haitian economy despite persistent insecurity, adding that they are pleased to present some -one of these viable investment opportunities available in Haiti.
“We cannot rebuild Haiti alone, but together, forming a convergent ecosystem, we can achieve real impacts,” said Suze François of the NAAHP.
One of the key elements of this event is to engage members of the diaspora who are actively looking to invest in their home countries.
François goes on to say: “Our Diaspora actors are committed to supporting Haiti through philanthropy and social entrepreneurship. This conference is the ideal setting to connect our stakeholders with like-minded investors and high-potential companies.”
However, according to the press release from the American institution, the Connect, Partner and Invest for Economic Recovery and Development conference supported by USAID/Haiti will be the last Haiti INVEST event given that the program should take ends in June 2024.
“We are proud of Haiti INVEST’s contribution to creating a network of experienced transaction advisors, attentive to the complex needs of Haitian businesses, particularly emerging SMEs,” said Ms. Ericka Rosenthal, Executive Director of AmCham Haiti.
