Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille was received this Tuesday, July 2, 2024 by US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, during his second day of an official visit to Washington.
During a press briefing, Mr. Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ support for the security and humanitarian crisis in Haiti, the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMAS), and the organization of the upcoming elections. He stressed the importance of the deployment of MMAS to help the Haitian National Police regain control of critical areas.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Conille met with several influential figures, including Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS, and Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF. Discussions focused on security, economic and social challenges, as well as constitutional reform.
At the end of the day, Dr. Conille was received by Alexia Latortue at the US Treasury Department, before going to New York for a meeting at the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday, July 3.
