This initiative aims to connect potential sponsors in the United States, who have already registered to help a foreigner and have undergone a background check [background checks]with Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans interested in this legal emigration route.
Cecilia Muñoz, co-president of Welcome US, told Cuban journalist Mario J. Pentón that The program complies with US government guidelines.
During the interview with the US-based journalist, some suggestions were offered to interested Cubans, such as connecting through a VPN, given that US laws do not allow access from Cuba. The journalist assured that several Cuban users had told him that it was possible to access the internet with a VPN. The Haitians have not yet reached this stage.
Ms. Muñoz also recommendedhave personal information on hand, including passport number and an email address.
According to the site’s own information, the platform Welcome Connectto ensure that sponsors and beneficiaries can make successful connections, will conduct ongoing, limited, scheduled registration.

STEPS TO REGISTER ON THE SPONSOR SEARCH PLATFORM
According to the information provided, registrations will open at 3 p.m. in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), depending on the time zone:
For Nicaragua: 9 a.m. Central Standard Time (CST)
Pour Haiti or Cuba: 11 a.m. (summer time).
For Venezuela: 11 a.m. (Atlantic Standard Time).
For Ukraine: 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time).
On the platform, you will need to create a profile containing basic information about yourself. Once the profile is completed, beneficiaries will be able to see potential sponsors and select up to 7 to send them a message.
Potential sponsors and recipients will message each other to determine if they are compatible.
If not, either party can “close” the conversation at any time, and recipients can find another sponsor to message. If at any point you have doubts about the sponsor, end the conversation and report their profile to the moderators for review.
If they think they have found a good sponsor, they can “offer to help” the beneficiary, who can accept or refuse. It is then up to both parties to exchange contact details to send the forms to the US government.
