Call facilitation on WhatsApp: a revolutionary new feature.
Meta, the giant behind WhatsApp, is preparing to significantly simplify calls on its messaging platform. A new beta version of the application integrates a long-awaited functionality, aimed at alleviating the constraints of contacting friends, BFMTV reported in an article.
WhatsApp, owned by Meta (which also owns Facebook and Instagram), is introducing a classic dialing interface directly into the app. A new icon, soon to be available in the “Calls” tab, will allow users to access this feature, similar to the one natively present on iOS and Android.
Until now, WhatsApp required users to add contacts to their phonebook before being able to call them, after which the application checked whether the contact had a WhatsApp account. If this was not the case, a specific link had to be created. This new update eliminates this step, allowing you to call directly by entering the phone number.
Currently in the beta phase, this functionality could be deployed to all users in the weeks or months to come.
At the same time, Meta recently updated the visual interface of WhatsApp. The design leans more on the app’s iconic green color, the navigation bar has been redesigned, and the dark mode is now darker, responding to user requests.
