The Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) held a meeting this Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Villa d’Accueil, with representatives of national women’s organizations to discuss the appointment of their representative to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). Presidential Advisor Frinel Joseph, accompanied by his chief of staff Pierre Jean Raymond André, met with Dialogue Inter Femme, Fanm Angaje, and FEDOFEDG, but a consensus has not yet been reached.
Yves Marie Édouard, initially proposed, was challenged, and Josette Macillon is now in the running. The CPT had designated Fanm Yo La and DIFE to lead the process jointly, but a unilateral move by DIFE has caused tensions. The feminist sector must submit the name of their representative to the CPT by 8 August 2024.
