The Zafèm group unveiled, this Friday June 21, 2024 at noon, its first clip from the album “Lalin ak Solèy” (LAS), one year after its release. This video highlights the multiple facets and traditions that make up the culture of the Haitian people.

The “LAS” music video, “Lalin ak Solèy,” opens with a rustic scene: a lilting waterfall and a serpentine river flowing through a field of trees. There, Dener Ceide stands, while Reginald Cangé, like a rider, appears on a white horse. Then comes the legendary Haitian singer Yole Desrose, who, for her part, enters a courtyard, settling in front of a bonfire to watch a folk dance performance.

In front of a thatched-roof house, a black woman is captured in the act of preparing coffee in an aluminum pot. Around her, two goats graze peacefully under a tree where Reginald Cangé sings, accompanied by a few men dancing to the rhythm of the drums. The former Miss Universe of Haiti, Eden Berandoive, makes her appearance, welcomed by Reginald Cange and Dener Ceide, who light a candle for her.

This video captures with poetic intensity the cockfight, Bazilik Patikola a Haitian martial art and game of skill, konbits, Karabela clothing decorated with sparkling sequins, all symbols of the rich mosaic of Haitian traditions.

Haitian daily rituals, imbued with spirituality and community, are reflected in the preparation and sharing of coffee, a shot of clairin between friends. The folk dance scenes, omnipresent in the clip, reflect the passion for music and movement, enlivening the Haitian festivities.

In the background, the thatched house and the goats under the tree outline an authentic rural setting, evoking the agricultural traditions anchored in daily Haitian life. This living picture, where every detail is carefully orchestrated, captures the spirit and cultural soul of a nation, proud of its cultural heritage and its resilience in the face of the tests of time.

The reactions on social networks were not long in coming. Zafem’s clip has already sparked a wave of enthusiasm and laudatory comments, testifying to the impact of this visual celebration of Haitian traditions. Internet users unanimously praise the beauty and authenticity of this work created by Abdias Laguerre highlighting the richness of Haitian cultural heritage.
