12 avril 1793 : from Saint-Marc, commissioners Sonthonax and Polvérel launched an attack against the little whites of Port-au-Prince.

The little whites who hated the big whites as well as the “people of color” and who were opposed to the admission of the latter into the colonial assemblies banded together against the commissioners who were very aggressive in the application of the decrees of the April 4, 1792.

The bombardment of the city had the expected results and the commissioners regained control of the West department and part of the South department.

12 avril 2008 : during an interpellation session without debate, 16 senators out of 17 present gave a vote of no confidence to Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis. Through this motion of censure, the senators denounced the inability of the Alexis government to establish a policy meeting the primary needs of the Haitian population. Hunger riots caused by the brutal rise in food prices paralyzed Haiti for nearly a week.

12 avril 2018 : inauguration of the first school of Optometry in Haiti by the dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the State University of Haiti (UEH) , Dr. Jean-Claude Cadet. The objective of this entity is to train health professionals capable of supporting the population in the management of pathologies relating to eye health in Haiti.

12 avril 2019 : the United Nations Security Council confirms the withdrawal scheduled for October 2019 of the United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH).

12 avril 2020 : a fire which broke out on the night of Sunday April 12 to Monday April 13 took away the roof of the royal chapel of Milot. The intervention of firefighters from Cap-Haitien, and residents of Milot, could not contain the fire in this historic monument, built by Henry Christophe between 1810 and 1813.

12 avril 2022 : Prime Minister Ariel Henry participated in a high-level international conference, in Pétion-ville, on financing disaster risks in Haiti. One of the objectives of the event was to guide policies towards strengthening resilience and establishing innovative disaster risk financing mechanisms for the coming years in Haiti.
