Multinational Force Deployment: Kenyan Police Officers Arrive in Port-au-Prince

This Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Kenyan police officers landed on the tarmac of Toussaint Louverture international airport, marking the start of a crucial mission. Aboard a Kenya Airways plane, this first contingent of 400 agents represents the vanguard of a multinational force intended to dismantle the armed criminal gangs plaguing Haiti.

A total of 2,500 police officers from various countries will participate in this deployment, aimed at restoring security and order on Dessalinian soil, where gang activities have plunged many communities into terror and violence.

The Haitian Prime Minister, Garry Conille, expressed his gratitude and praised the determination of the Kenyan Government and its people for their commitment to supporting Haiti in its fight against insecurity via a message on his X account (formerly Twitter).

The police officers deployed in Haiti come from several specialized units from Kenya: the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU), the Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), the General Service Unit (GSU), and the Border Patrol Unit (BPU).
