Activities resumed in the town of Carrefour on April 19, 2024. The opportunity for the interim executive agent, Jude Édouard Pierre, to take stock. At least 7 people were killed, specifies the councilor who reminds the gangs that the commune of Carrefour is also a victim of the Haitian political system.

The winds of violence calm down in Carrefour. In fact, more than 200 heavily armed young people went wild in various neighborhoods of the town on April 18, 2024. They crisscrossed all the streets of the city and attacked the police station in which the police had already withdrawn. A total of seven people were killed, including a police officer, reports Jude Édouard Pierre, who said he strongly and rigorously condemned this bloody attack which, he said, had no precedent in the history of the city of Carrefour.

This April 19, 2024, all activities are resumed in this municipality bordering Port-au-Prince. The city’s first citizen took the opportunity to express his sympathies to the families of the victims. Jude Edouard Pierre did not hide his bitterness at what happened the day before. Considering the impact of the attack and the risks hanging over the heads of the population, the executive agent reminds the gangs that Carrefour is in no way responsible for the bad political decisions that brought the country to its knees. According to him, the city he administers is a victim among others and, therefore, invites the gangs to spare the population from their avalanche of violence.

In his public outing, Mr. Pierre confronted the police high command with its responsibility, inviting it to communicate clearly on what is happening at Carrefour. He also invites him to take the necessary measures to strengthen the capacity of the PNH in his municipality. The city’s top official also reassured the occupants of the police station. According to him, the gangs only took materials and left the space.
