P-to-P, April 12, 2024 [AlterPresse] — The Presidential Transitional Council was officially created, through a decree published this Friday, April 12, 2024, by the outgoing de facto government in the official newspaper of the republic “Le Moniteur”, learns AlterPresse.

According to the document to which AlterPresse had access, The Council exercises the specific presidential powers of the presidency during the transition period, which ends no later than February 7, 2026.

The Presidential Transitional Council is made up of 7 voting members and two observers from different political groups, the private sector, civil society and an inter-faith entity.

The decree is initialed by outgoing Prime Minister Ariel Henry, currently abroad, and members of his government.

According to the document, the head of government is making the necessary arrangements for the installation of the Transitional Council at the national palace.

Contrary to what was indicated by certain sources, the decree appointing the members of the Council has not yet been published.

According to a government communication on social networks, “the personalities designated by the stakeholders to be part of the said Council, are invited to submit to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers the documents required in accordance with article 2 of the decree”.
