Haiti – FLASH: Publication of the real decree appointing the members of the CPT (official)

Tuesday April 16, 2024, the Council of Ministers published, in the official journal Le Moniteur Spécial #15, the decree appointing the 9 members of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) putting an end to the confusion with the document circulating on social networks . This order bearing the words “ERRATA” and “Reproduction” indicates that it is indeed a new, corrected, complete and definitive reprinted version.

The publication without the “vetting” of the representatives forced the Government to add 3 considerations, in order to give “a certain legality” to these appointments:
“Considering that the different sectors. parties to the Consensus. have formally designated and. Knowingly. their representatives on the Presidential Transitional Council; which implies that they chose them by taking care to verify that they meet the eligibility criteria established by the Constitution and agreed in the agreement reached on March 1, 2024 in Kingston. Jamaica:
Considering that a counter-verification by the Council of Ministers of the eligibility of the designated persons is made almost impossible. due to non-presentation of the required documents on date:
Whereas to speed up the ongoing process. it is necessary to appoint the members of the Presidential Transitional Council, it is up to them to submit the required documents subsequently within a reasonable period. that failing to be able to do so. they will be forced to resign. »
