Carried out around the theme “The Second International Decade for People of African Descent: Fight against systemic racism, restorative justice and sustainable development”, this forum takes place from April 16 to 19 and constitutes a crucial platform for advancing rights and well-being of people of African descent around the world.

According to a press release from the Haitian-American Foundation for Democracy (HAFFD), during this event, the delegation of Haitian civil society and the Haitian-American diaspora will participate in discussions alongside other Haitian delegates, pleading in favor significant changes and recognizing the historical significance of Haiti. It aims to highlight Haiti’s crucial role in world history when it courageously fought against slavery. Recognizing this historical context is essential to understanding Haiti’s unique position in the global struggle for justice and equality.

“The delegation of Haitian civil society and the Haitian-American diaspora joins other Haitian delegates in calling for a reset of Haiti’s relations with the international community. In doing so, Haiti can accelerate its socio-economic progress and advance human rights on its territory,” we read in this press release.

The delegation of Haitian civil society and the Haitian-American diaspora also strongly approved the call for restitution and reparations in favor of Haiti. These measures aim to address the historical injustices inflicted on Haiti and provide a path to healing and empowerment.
