P-to-P, April 11, 2024 [AlterPresse] — At least 208 people, including 13 national police officers, were killed from January to March 2024, in armed violence in Haiti, indicates the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights in a report dated Wednesday April 10, 2024, transmitted at the AlterPresse online agency.

Among these victims, 55 dead bodies, including that of a national police officer, were discovered in Port-au-Prince, Delmas and Pétionville.

For its part, the United Nations indicated that 1,554 people were killed and 826 others injured, from January to March 22, 2024.

On January 6, 2024, seven (7) passengers, boarding a sailboat near Village Alpha, between Mariani and Gressier (about 29 km south of Port-au-Prince), were killed by men armed forces operating in Mariani, reports Rnddh.

The following day, (January 7, 2024), nine (9) partially charred corpses, including that of Brunel Rémy identified by his partner, were found on a dump site at rue Pierre Anselme, Delmas 19.

On February 1, 2024, early in the morning, six (6) bodies were discovered in the streets of Port-au-Prince, including two (2) on rue Caroline, Christ Roi zone, and four (4), on rue du Centre, in downtown Port-au-Prince.

The Rnddh describes a very worrying general human rights situation in Haiti.

At least 158 ​​people were injured by gunfire during the period covered by this report.

From January to March 2024, 64 women and girls suffered sexual violence. They were received by the feminist organization Brown girl and the Rnddh.

Many of these victims were gang raped by armed bandits, particularly during armed attacks. Others were raped by their spouses and relatives.

At least 48 cases of kidnapping, followed by confinement for ransom, were also recorded.

83 private and public institutions and/or businesses were attacked, vandalized and/or set on fire in Port-au-Prince and surrounding communities, including 19 police stations and 5 peace courts and one (1) court of first instance, identified the Rnddh.

At least 13 criminal toll stations in Haiti

A criminal toll post is erected on national road #3, in Onaville, one on national road #5, between Gros Morne (Artibonite department) and Port-de-Paix (Northwest) and another on national road #8, in Calvaire, Croix-des-Bouquets.

The National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (Rnddh) recommends restoring adequate security conditions, with a view to allowing people displaced by acts of terror and crime to return to their homes.

The Rnddh calls for the implementation of psycho-socio-economic programs in favor of victims of crime.

He also demands the dismissal of the interim director general of the Haitian National Police (Pnh), Frantz Elbé, for gross incompetence.
