The publication of the list of 14 members of the ministerial cabinet, which is circulating on social networks, was confirmed with a member of the transition team by AlterPresse.

Of the 14 people appointed, there are 4 women.

Ketleen Florestal is in charge of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef) as well as the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (Mpce).

Dominique Dupuy, who was until date (June 11, 2024) permanent representative of Haiti to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is the holder of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of worship, as well as the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (Mhave).

The other 2 women are respectively placed in the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women’s Rights (Mcfdf), and in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (Mjsac).

Security, the most important concern today in Haiti

Brief overview of the Cpt’s procedures

This publication comes about two weeks, after the appointment, by the Presidential Transitional Council (Cpt), on Tuesday May 28, 2024, of the United Nations official, Garry Conille, to the post of Prime Minister of the transition.

The Presidential Transitional Council officially took office on Thursday April 25, 2024.

A transition process has been initiated since March 11, 2024, with an agreement between the protagonists, reached under the auspices of the Caribbean Community (Caricom).

An agreement was then reached between the stakeholders, on April 3, 2024, with a view to the establishment of a Presidential Council [[1] and a transitional government.

This “agreement of April 3, 2024 for a peaceful and orderly transition” determines the main lines of the transition, to be implemented in the next 22 months, and sets the commitment of the signatory parties.

A new elected president will take office on February 7, 2026 in Haiti, following a 22-month transition, following this political agreement initialed by around twenty personalities from 9 sectors.

14 ministers, including 4 women, for 18 ministries during the transition period

No minister from the de facto government of Ariel Henry appears in the new transitional government.

Garry Conille occupies both the position of Prime Minister and holder of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities (Mict).

Among the four female ministers, two occupy two portfolios.

Citizen James Monazard is appointed head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Mci), and the Ministry of Tourism.

Citizen Moïse Jean-Pierre Fils is appointed head of the Ministry of the Environment (Mde).

Citizen Antoine Augustin is appointed head of the Ministry of National Education and Professional Training (Menfp), and the Ministry of Culture and Communication (Mcc).

Citizen Georges Wilbert Franck is appointed head of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (Mast).

Citizen Georges Fils Brignol is appointed holder of the Ministry of Public Health and Population (Mspp).
