The PNH announces the arrest of Jean Bernard Joseph for his alleged involvement in the case relating to the seizure of weapons and ammunition in Cap-Haïtien.

The central direction of the judicial police and the office for the fight against drug trafficking proceeded, on Saturday, April 13, to the arrest of the suspect Jean Bernard JOSEPH in the case concerning the seizure of weapons and ammunition in Cap-Haitien occurred on Friday, April 5.

Indeed, on Saturday April 13, 2024, around 5:45 a.m., according to a note from the PNHBLTS investigators on detachment in the North proceeded to the arrest of the name Jean Bernard JOSEPH, born April 25, 1978 in Pétion-Ville (West), identified by his National identification card at number: 1256170963, Chief of service and supervisor at customs, at the Cape terminal, for his complicity in the illicit international trafficking of firearms and ammunition based on a warrant issued against him by the Government Commissioner at the Court of First Instance of Cap-Haitien, Me Charles Édouard DURAND, dated April 12, 2024.

It is rare for a customs employee to be arrested in a case relating to the seizure of weapons and ammunition. This head of service at the Cap-Haitien customs is accused of being complicit in this matter. The police seized (26) firearms, (999) cartridges and (34) magazines on Friday April 5, 2024 at the Cap-Haitien National Port Authority (APN).

Still according to the PNH note, during this arrest, one (01) vehicle brand: Land Rover, model: LR4, type: tour terrain, color: white, registration DD-0540 and a sum in local currency valued at (482,000 gdes), an amount of (40 US) were seized.
