Commercial flights between Haiti and the United States of America have resumed at Cap-Haïtien international airport, reported Le Nouvelliste in a publication on its X account (formerly Twitter), this Monday, March 25, 2024, around noon.
According to the daily Rue du Centre, 155 passengers left Cap-Haïtien this Monday morning aboard a special Sunrise Airways flight. This special flight marks the resumption of commercial flights between Haiti and Florida, in the United States, since the socio-political crisis shaking the country, marked by the rise in violence from armed gangs who continue to lay down the law in different areas of the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince.
The airline Sunrise Airways is planning another flight for this Monday afternoon at Cap-Haitien International Airport, as it launched its flights connecting the city of Les Cayes to the country’s second city, Cap-Haitien.
Remember that commercial flights had been suspended in Haiti because of the rise in gang violence who only swore by the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry. After the announcement of the latter’s resignation, the gangs continued their acts of terror, saying they did not accept the presidential council set up by CARICOM.
