The unease which is spreading to all levels of Haitian society also affects the national police, to such an extent that the agents of the special unit of Grande-Anse, the UDMO, rose up on Friday to demand better treatment, if however the director disgraced general, Frantz Elbe, takes their demands to heart.
According to a local press correspondent contacted by telephone, these police officers, who are demonstrating peacefully, no longer want Louis Edner Hyacinthe as departmental director.
“He no longer has the right to return to the police station – Deyo deyo net,” chant the police officers, themselves posing as victims of “the attitude of Mr. Hyacinthe, accused of being in collusion with civilians armed to Jeremiah.
The UDMO police officers, accustomed to bombarding the inhabitants of Jérémie who demand their rights with tear gas, blocked the main entrance to the Grande Anse police station on Friday morning, refusing access to their hierarchical leader whom they no longer consider as a representative of law enforcement agents in this geographic department of the country.
Other facts are accused of the director Louis Edner Yacinthe. According to SYNAPOHA, in a tweet last April, the former police chief of Nippes allegedly violated his rights by transferring police officers for no apparent reason and by legalizing firearms belonging to individuals in exchange for sums of money considerable.
