May 30, 2016: a report submitted by the Independent Electoral Evaluation and Verification Commission (Cieve) recommends the resumption of the controversial 2015 presidential election as well as the review of several dozen sentences pronounced by the Electoral Disputes Offices. The candidate of power Jovenel Moise had collected 32.76% of the votes against 25.29% for Jude Célestin in these contests.
May 30, 2019: four opposition senators, including Nènel Cassy, Antonio Chéramy, Evalière Beauplan and Ricard Pierre ransacked the Senate session room. This was to host a third attempt to hear the general policy of Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin and his government.
May 30, 2013: at least one person died and 35 others were injured in the fire in a public market at the bottom of the city of Port-au-Prince (not far from the capital’s seaside). The explosion of chemicals stored in the reported building is believed to be the cause of the fire.
May 30, 2022: Me Bernard Saint-Vil, Dean of the Court of First Instance (TPI), appoints Me Walther Wesser Voltaire as new judge (the 5th) responsible for investigating the case of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.
May 30, 2008: a fire completely destroyed the North hall of the Hyppolite market, also called the Iron Market. The damage toll was immense. Hundreds of thousands of gourds of goods disappeared in the flames. This space, inaugurated on November 22, 1891, was classified as the 34th national historical heritage by the Haitian State by presidential decree dated May 11, 2010.
May 30, 1870: Second convention of the Apostolic Orthodox Church of Haiti. During this convention, a letter was read from the participants of the first Lambeth Conference (1867) recognizing the Haitian Orthodox Apostolic Church as a sister church of the Anglican communion, and at the same time invited James Théodore Holly to participate at the second Lambeth Conference.
May 30, 2023 : Grenadier Kethna Louis joins the Montpellier women’s team. The full-back leaves her club Stade de Reims to play alongside Nérilia Mondésir, her teammate in the selection. The announcement was made on Tuesday May 30 by the French club on its website.
