The South-East Police caught two prison escapees during a police intervention. Josué Sylvestre, 31, was arrested in Belle-Anse on Friday May 31, 2024, after confessing to his escape from the National Penitentiary on March 2, following an armed attack by the coalition of armed gangs in the region metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince called “viv ansanm”.
In addition, Jean Simon Lionel, 46, was apprehended in the 9th communal section of Bainet on June 5, 2024. Incarcerated since 2010 at the Civil Prison of Port-au-Prince, Lionel also confessed to his escape on March 2.
These arrests are part of a context of strengthening security measures by the South-East Police Department, according to a press release from the police institution dated Thursday June 6, 2024.
The South East Police say they continue to strengthen its security measures in order to put all prison escapees out of harm’s way, following the wanted notice issued against them by the police institution.
