Women’s platforms and organizations demand full transparency in the process of designating their representative to the CEP
In an open letter addressed this Monday, July 15, to the initiative “Inter-Woman Dialogue”several women’s platforms and organizations are demanding that the process of designating the women’s representative to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) is transparent. They insist on the need to carefully read the correspondence from the Secretary General of the Presidential Council received on July 11, 2024, before moving forward.
The signatories of the letter, including Milord Marjorie, Collectif Feminin Catherine Flon; Estella Anteno, COFEMASO; Lamercie Charles Pierre, OFAVA; Annette Paul Pacifique, SONAFAL; Lourdy T Fleusinord, OFLDE; Rosenie Gustave, Fanm Vanyan Marigot; denounce the dissemination of the correspondence on social networks, while all the structures mentioned have not formally received it. They call for a face-to-face meeting as soon as all the organizations concerned have received the correspondence, in order to guarantee transparency and avoid any confusion or suspicion.
In this letter, the organizations made six key proposals: coordination and collective supervision, internal financing between the entities involved in the coordination of the process to avoid the perception of corruption, mandatory face-to-face decision-making, authentication of participants, transparent choice of the electoral committee and fully transparent election.
This letter underlines the importance of transparency and collaboration to ensure an inclusive and credible decision-making process, aimed at avoiding contestations and frustrations within the women’s rights sector. The signatories, representing various women’s organizations across the country, salute all compatriots and call for authenticity and rigor in this crucial process.
