With support from the Department of State, U.S. Southern Command transported support and security augmentation personnel for the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince.

According to a statement from American authorities, a US Air Force C-130 flew to Toussaint Louverture International Airport for the planned personnel rotation.

This mission reflects the efforts of the Haitian National Police, the Haitian Armed Forces and the administrators and stakeholders of the international airport.

Security and support personnel arriving in Haiti will help ensure that the U.S. Embassy remains open and operations continue.

This airlift mission is consistent with standard practice in enhancing embassy security worldwide.

The U.S. Embassy remains focused on advancing the U.S. government’s efforts to support the Haitian people, including mobilizing support for the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces, and creating the conditions for elections free and fair.
