The new United States Ambassador to Haiti, Dennis Bruce Hankins, had a meeting this Tuesday with the Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Frantz Elbé.
According to a publication from the American Embassy in Haiti, during this meeting, Hankins listened to the concerns of the director and praised the dedication and bravery of the PNH.
In its note, the embassy reiterated the determination of the United States to strengthen the capacities of the PNH through the support of the American Department of State.
This meeting comes a week after the arrival of the new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Haiti, Dennis Bruce Hankins, on March 26.
However, Monday was also an opportunity for the diplomat to officially present himself to the Haitian authorities. Indeed, Dennis B. Hankins made his first presentation to Haitian authorities as the new United States ambassador to the country.
The US Embassy in Haiti also reported that Hankins had the opportunity to meet with Haitian Foreign Minister Jean Victor Généus, as well as Acting Prime Minister Michel Patrick Boisvert.
