The quarterly report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (from January to March 2024) reports at least 82 children victims of human rights violations. These Haitian children were killed or injured during clashes between police and armed civilians. Following the publication of the report, the KPTSL said it urges the Haitian authorities of the OHCHR to take concrete measures to reduce social inequalities, human rights violations and reduce the suffering of the Haitian population in particular, in areas affected by violence. armed groups.

The KPTSL says it notes in the report that between the months of January and March 2024, the Human Rights Department of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) documented 2,505 people victims of murders and injuries. It is also written in the document that men represent 79% of victims, women 18% and children 3%.

This reflects an increase of more than 53% compared to the previous period (October-December 2023), making the first three months of 2024 the most violent period since BINUH established its human rights mechanism in Haiti. .

Thus, the KPTSL encourages the United Nations High Commissioner in Haiti to advocate to the United Nations Secretariat in Haiti, to demand the application of sanctions against state authorities who should be the primary guarantors of the rights of all. citizens, but not accomplices or offenders.
