Armed gangs target residents of Foyer St Vincent

In an official note, the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of People with Disabilities (BSEIPH) revealed a recent attack by armed gangs against disabled residents of Foyer St Vincent.

The BSEIPH expresses its deep concern about the deterioration of the living conditions of people with disabilities in the metropolitan region, particularly those housed at the Foyer St Vincent. These incidents demonstrate a precarious and alarming situation for this vulnerable population.

Thanks to the intervention of the Haitian National Police, residents were able to collect their personal belongings from the home, located in downtown Port-au-Prince. The BSEIPH expresses its appreciation for the efforts made by the PNH and other partners to guarantee the safety and well-being of people with disabilities.

In addition, steps have been taken to relocate those displaced from Foyer St Vincent to former government space, in collaboration with local authorities and other entities. The Office highlights the importance of respecting the fundamental rights of people with disabilities and calls for community solidarity to address this humanitarian crisis.

It should be noted that this attack is part of a series of violent incidents perpetrated by armed gangs in the metropolitan region, which have caused deep concern among the population and the authorities.
