Reactions are multiplying after the shooting of bandits in the afternoon of Sunday June 9, 2024, at Delmas 24, of three (3) UTAG police officers by the names of Fermetus Emelin Piton Wilkens Jean junior and Clovis Peterson. In a press release, the Fondasyon Je Klere (FJKL), which says it is shocked and revolted by the triple murder, demands the arrest of the murderers of these police officers and also calls for the resignation of the Police High Command due to its inability to protect the police institution and to guarantee public safety.

THE HAITI FACTOR, June 10, 2024._The Fondasyon Je Klere (FJKL) says it has learned the news of the shocking and revolting assassination of: Fermetus Emelin (30th), Piton Wilkens Jean junior (31st) and Clovis Peterson (32nd), three police officers from the Temporary Anti Unit -Gang (UTAG) in Delmas 24 on Sunday June 9, 2024.

According to a note from the human rights organization, once again, once too many, police officers have been ambushed by gangs. The FJKL believes that this crime is the result of the corruption that is eroding the administration of the institutions responsible for national security.

The assassination of the police officers could have been avoided if the money reserved for the intelligence services was spent wisely, FJKL suggested.

“Why are the police never informed of traps set by gangs? Where have the police informants gone? What is the intelligence service of the Haitian National Police worth? Who is responsible for this failure? Who will pay for this affront to the Haitian National Police (PNH)? », asks the human rights organization.

Outraged, shocked, and revolted, the FJKL demands the immediate arrest of those responsible for this crime claimed by the Viv Ansanm gang coalition and also demands the resignation of the Police High Command due to its inability to protect the police institution and guarantee public safety.

The FJKL presents its sympathies to the National Police of Haiti (PNH), to the parents, friends and loved ones of the illustrious disappeared.

The blood of these servants of the State was shed as a reminder of the need to restore public order and tranquility of the streets throughout the national territory. It is time to put an end to the comedy of lawless zones, lost territories, bandits who openly defy the republican order.

Expressing its sadness, the FJKL renews its proposal for massive recruitment and intensive training of young soldiers for the strengthening of the Armed Forces of Haiti, the strengthening of the PNH and the intelligence service to effectively deal with gang terror.

“The reconquest of the State’s monopoly on legitimate violence inevitably requires courageous decisions and not the hypothetical arrival of a foreign force,” the organization concluded.
