Barbancourt “Haitian Proof” Rum wins the Double Gold Medal at the “San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024”
The Society of Rhum Barbancourt announced in a press release dated Thursday May 9, 2024, that one of its products, White rum “Overproof”named “Haitian Proof”, won a new prize at the San Francisco Worlds Spirits Competition 2024 (SWFSC): a double Gold medal. This year, the SFWSC winners are judged on quality, production technique and know-how. A double gold medal means that the candidate received a gold medal from all the members of the jury.
The company’s CEO, Delphine Gardère, said that this award validates our vision of integrating the category “Overproof” and to develop a remarkable white rum highlighting our distillation methods, our sugar cane and our unique terroir selected for their aromatic uniqueness. We are extremely proud to offer a product of this quality which reflects the richness of the flavors of Haiti for connoisseurs and amateurs”.

“It is an honor to once again be recognized for our unique and ancestral know-how during one of the most prestigious in the world, comprising more than 5,500 applications and 70 experienced judges, which crowns the best rums, she says. Aged 163, the Société du Rhum Barbancourt is not on its first medal. The famous Haitian distillery has received more than 55 medals of distinction in global spirits competitions since its creation in 1862, the press release continues. The production technique of the Rhum Barbancourt distillery has been passed down from generation to generation and was included in the National Register of Cultural Heritage of Haiti in 2021.
