Center: 5 members of the same family arrested at the funeral of a loved one Lascahobas

The funeral of the young man Fredner Gracia known as “Tchout”, who died on April 18, 2024, turned into a saga this Friday. While the ceremony was taking place, the judicial and police authorities entered the grounds of the First Baptist Church of Lascahobas and arrested 5 members of the deceased’s family, including 3 brothers. An action which prematurely ended the funeral of the 27-year-old young man. Follow this report by Jean Anderson Brévil.

THE HAITI FACTOR, April 26, 2024._27 years old, “Tchout”, his real name, Fredner Gracia died on Thursday April 18, 2024 after a short illness.

Thunderbolt! A close relative of his family, Fednord as he is known, is accused in his death by other members of the family who spoke to the Journal LE FACTEUR HAITI.

Accused of murdering his loved one, Fednord took the case to court. Denying his participation in the death of the 27-year-old young man, he went to the Municipal Peace Court to file a complaint against the members of the deceased’s family.

In order to clarify, two (2) judges of the Lascahobas Peace Court heard the case on Wednesday April 24, 2024. After hearing both parties, the judges ruling on the case declared that they had not found irrefutable evidence relating to the accusations made against the man named Fednor by other members of the deceased’s family.

Despite everything, to protect themselves against his accusers, the judicial authorities kept the accused (Fednor) in custody, maintain the judges in question. Twenty-four hours later, on Thursday April 25, Fednor was released and then returned home.

A few hours after his release, he was murdered and his corpse burned by his assassins. According to them, Fednor “mystically” took the life of young Fredner Gracia.

In the meantime, the funeral of Fredner Gracia has been scheduled for this Friday, April 26, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Lascahobas, in the Center Department. While everything was going well, the ceremony, in a split second, turned into a scene of arrest.

As proof, at least five (5) members of the deceased’s family were put behind bars by the city’s judicial and police authorities who entered the grounds of the said Church.

Among the 5 people arrested are three (3) of the deceased’s brothers, all suspected in the assassination of Fednor, accused in the murder of the 27-year-old young man. This wave of arrests immediately put an end to the ceremony. Expressing their anger, some participants took the coffin and placed it in front of the Lascahobas police station for more than an hour.

On the other hand, a patrol from the Departmental Order Maintenance Unit (UDMO) coming from Mirebalais arrived as reinforcement at the Police Station. In response, the police on board used tear gas to disperse the crowd before ordering the coffin to be lifted.

In the process, another person was arrested by the police on the orders of two Justices of the Peace of the Commune. This brings the number of people arrested in the case to 6.

Questioned by the newspaper LE FACTEUR HAITI, the two judges present on the scene did not want to provide details.

After their arrest, the six (6) people were transferred to the Mirebalais police station for legal proceedings.
