In recent times, armed gangs have continued to carry out attacks at Champ de Mars, in Port-au-Prince. This Monday, April 1, 2024, this area is transformed once again into a real battlefield between armed civilians and law enforcement agents.
At midday, heavily armed individuals decided to attack the premises of the National Palace. “I have to empty the place so as not to be a victim” said a Palace employee contacted by Juno7. However, this employee, on condition of anonymity, informed that he came out injured but for the moment, his state of health is stable, he is at home.
Faced with this tense situation, the citizens present in the area gave space. “This is unacceptable, my brother. The thugs kicked my family out of their home, they prevent me from taking classes. How can I live in this country?” said a student from theINAGHEI reached by telephone by Juno7 who were present when the gangs exchanged fire with soldiers of the Armed Forces of Haiti and agents of the General Security Unit of the National Palace.
It should be noted that this Monday, April 1, 2024, shots were heard on the Airport road leading to the Delmas road passing through Delmas 19. A trader was hit by a stray bullet in the head and he died on the spot.
