Real Madrid, master of the UEFA Champions League, brandished its 15th championship title on Saturday June 1, 2024, at Wembley Stadium, in England, against Borussia Dortmund. The Madrilenians, carried by Daniel Carvajal and Vinicius Junior, defeated (0-2) the Borussens.

THE HAITI FACTOR, June 1, 2024._ Wembley, England’s legendary stadium, hosted the final of the 69th edition of the European Men’s Champions League on Saturday June 1, 2024. It pitted Real Madrid FC against Borussia Dortmund, in a duel between “David and Goliath.”

Big favorite to succeed Manchester City, winner of the previous edition, Real Madrid FC had all the trouble in the world to organize its game in the first half against a Dortmund team that was well established and very threatening.

As proof, the Germans could have hurt the Spaniards on several occasions, were it not for the clumsiness of Julian Brandt, Karim Adeyemi and Niklas Fülkrug, among others.

On the other hand, we must also salute the class of Thibaut Courtois, to thwart the opposing attackers.

Despite creating multiple clear chances, Mats Hummels’ teammates were unable to find the net before the break against a Madrid team that was disorganized in defense as well as in midfield.

In the second round, Borussia Dortmund started again on the same basis, while Real Madrid began to organize themselves better, notably with a free kick masterfully kicked by Toni Kroos after a foul by Hummels on Vinicius.

While playing his last match for Real Madrid, Toni Kroos, in the 74th minute, placed a corner on the head of Daniel Carvajal for the opening goal. A massive blow for Edin Terzic’s men!

Spearhead of the Meringue attack, Vinicius Junior, served by Jude Bellingham in the 83rd minute, crucified Borussia Dortmund by scoring the second goal.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men came together following a poor pass from Ian Maatsen at the heart of the German defense.

In the end, Real beat Borussia Dortmund (0-2) and won the 15th Champions League in its history.
