P-au-P., February 5, 2024 [AlterPresse] — The En Avant political party once again invites the country’s active forces to hold a conference to find a “historic” and “sufficient national” political compromise, in the face of the obvious failure of the de facto authorities in place, in a economic report noted by the online agency AlterPresse.

This compromise “can avoid a bloodbath and provide the necessary legitimacy to a transitional government which must inspire confidence in society and the political actors called to compete in the next electoral contests,” he believes.

The aim of this compromise must be the restoration of security as quickly as possible, the organization of elections and the return to constitutional order, underlines the En Avant political party.

For several weeks, protest movements punctuated by violence have multiplied in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and various cities across the country to demand the departure of de facto Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

This new call for compromise from the political party En Avant, which occurred in a context of political agitation, is addressed mainly to the de facto Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, who “solely holds the reins of power, and whose good faith must be the fundamental prerequisite for any serious political discussion. »

The political party En Avant castigates Ariel Henry and his political allies who “preferred to hide behind article 149 of the Constitution, and the agreement of December 21, to perpetuate the status quo, ignoring an assessment which exposes the limits otherwise the incompetence of the government,” he said.

He urges the government to respect the sovereign resolutions of this conference of the country’s leaders and Haiti’s international partners to take note of “this final national effort.” »

The ongoing mobilizations have caused the paralysis of many school and commercial activities across the country. They particularly affected the functioning of schools.

School activities still remained paralyzed, on Monday February 5, 2024, in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and in several other cities in the provinces, for a third consecutive week in a context of general strike and mobilizations to protest against the crime and demand the departure of the de facto government in place.

In addition, around ten people were killed in Pernier (east of the capital, Port-au-Prince) and dozens of others in Cité Soleil (north), during clashes between armed gangs, according to information relayed in the local press.

A total of 3,314 people, or 810 households, were forced to move due to the violence perpetrated in recent days by armed gangs in the neighborhoods of Pernier and its surroundings, in the commune of Pétionville (east), Drouillard, from Wharf to La Saline, in the commune of Cité Soleil (north) and in the municipality of Port-au-Prince, according to a count from the international organization for migration (Oim), of which the agency has taken note online AlterPresse.

There were 1,398 people displaced in Pernier, 1,239 others at the Saline wharf as well as 677 in Drouillard, specifies the IOM.

“The weapon of dialectics against the dialectics of weapons”

The En Avant party invites the eminent personalities of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), the United Nations (UN) organization of which Haiti is a founding member to be the great witnesses and guarantors of the consensus and the road map which will emerge from the political conference recommended.

He asks all political groups to favor the weapon of dialectic over the dialectic of weapons.

“Arm violence and calls for destruction can only make the current drama worse,” warns the political party En Avant, which describes a situation where violence continues to rage with its share of kidnappings, insecurity and clashes between rival armed gangs who take the capital, Port-au-Prince hostage.

During 2023, more than 8,400 people were killed, injured and/or kidnapped, the United Nations Integrated Office (Binuh) reported.

More than 5,000 people have been killed in the violence of armed gangs ravaging Haiti, said the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), the Portuguese Antonio Guterres, in a report published on Tuesday January 23, 2024.

Due to armed gang violence, more than 310,000 people were displaced within Haiti in 2023, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) noted on January 26204.

These thousands of displaced people live with host families or in makeshift or open-air shelters, with little or no humanitarian assistance, deplores the international organization Human Rights Watch. [emb apr 05/02/2024 15 :00]
